How to Host a Children's Water Festival in Your Community

This behind the scenes look at a festival will be held at  the Durham Children’s Groundwater Festival. The Workshop will assist communities interested in organizing a children’s water festival. The program contains segments to assist with the planning and implementation of this environmental event.

 Those who will benefit from this interactive workshop are water utility and conservation authority staff, educators, counselors and youth leaders from outdoor education centers.

 Reaching our youth about important water issues is a long-term investment, which will pay dividends not only to utilities and conservation areas but also to all of society 

Day Agenda

  • 9:00       Welcome
  • 9:30       Student Arrival (volunteer assignment, bus parking, student orientation)
  • 10:30      Educational Program (view over 40 activity centres)
  • 11:30      Lunch
  • 12:30      Festival Tour (view remaing centres)
  • 1:30        Just Add Water kit (discuss option of delivery of activiites to your community)

About the workshop…

The emphasis of this workshop is planning, implementing and sustaining a multi-day children’s water festival.

The workshop will provide participants the opportunity to see how a Water Festival works in real-time.

From early morning site preparation to running activity centers to final wrap-up at the end of the day, attendees can find out about innovative approaches to run their Festival.

The workshop assists in attendees in networking with established Festival organizing Committee members, to share information, ideas and introduces the “Just Add Water” Activity center trailer.

  • Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
  • Cancellation requests must be made in writing and sent to the CWEC Office via fax or email. Telephone cancellations are not acceptable. All cancellations that are dated up to and including Sept.15, 2008 will be refunded, minus a $20.00 processing fee. Refunds will not be issued for cancellations received after May 15.
